Co-insurance with the spouse
In Austria, insured people and their dependents are entitled to benefits. Dependents are defined as:
- Spouses, registered partners and – under certain circumstances – life companions.
- Children up to age of 18
- Children up to age of 21, if not working
- Children up to age of 26, if following an official course of study
If you don’t have children and your spouse/partner does not work, you can add insurance for her/him for a certain monthly fee (depending on income, approx. 120 EUR/month).
The insured and his/her dependents are entitled to receive medical care from a general practitioner, specialist or dentist who has a contract with the health insurance fund. A list of such doctors is available from the health insurance fund.
